If you are interested in running a presentation or webinar for your special school, parent group or charity, let us know.

We have been hosting online and in-person events for parents and carers for years. Browse the available online courses below, or get in touch to see if we can provide tailormade sessions written exclusively for your organisation. Our webinars are informal, friendly and an engaging way to learn from a parent who has been there.

Our webinars

  • Wills and Trusts for Special Needs

For the parents and carers of children and adults with special needs. This hour-long session covers wills, trusts, choosing guardians and trustees, and letters of wishes. Whether starting from scratch or building knowledge, our session helps parents understand the next steps and what choices they have. We end with housekeeping tips for those with wills and trusts in place already.

Our most popular course, available online or in person

  • Parent/Carer Financial Toolkit

We look at the ‘Top Five’ financial questions we are asked. From accessing savings plans to grandparents wills, this course is an overall view of financial planning for the vulnerable. Our session ends with our Parent/Carer Need to Know list and links.

A great follow-up course to Wills and Trusts for Special Needs, 45 minutes online or in person

  • Savings for Children and Young Adults

What savings and investments can be set up for a loved one with vulnerabilities and how can they be accessed? Our savings webinar covers setting up savings plans, the impact on funded care and financial decision-making post-18. We look at whether trusts are necessary for savings and which tax-efficient wrappers are available.

45 minutes online or in person

  • 'Special Needs Parent' Business Owners

Running a business and caring for a loved one with special needs has its challenges. Some inspirational business owners build a business around their circumstances, others had a business in place already. This session covers key business financial planning steps, tax-efficiency and risk management. We end the course with succession and exit planning, and passing a business on to the next generation.

45 minutes online or in person

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds selected and the value may therefore fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you invested.

Will writing and some aspects of exit planning involves the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place. Wills and Trusts are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

  • Trustee Workshop

How do you choose a trustee and what does a trustee do? What are the practicalities of managing a trust and the day to day role of trustees? What powers do trustees have? This webinar is perfect for new trustees, those left money in trust or trustees of existing trusts looking for guidance.

45 minute workshop or online group session

  • Pensions and Trusts

How do pensions pass down to the next generation and how can trusts be used? What are the different types of pensions and what can parents/carers do to build their own pensions? This course runs through the basics of pensions, how to plan for retirement and how to protect pensions using trusts.
